Beth Gillis Germond
For as long as I can remember, drawing, painting and creating art have been a part of my life and a part of me. As a Maine native, I never cease to find inspiration in the landscapes, colors, textures, seasons, etc., but especially near the ocean which is where I grew up. Much of my art evokes feelings of nostalgia for not only me, but often its viewers.
When I entered college, I chose a non-art major, but the more art classes I signed up for, the more I realized that’s where my heart and happiness lay, so I ended up switching and graduating with a B.F.A. from Manhattanville in 1989.
While raising a family, I briefly operated a small local art/gift shop that featured art, jewelry and fine crafts by primarily Maine artists and artisans. It was wonderful to be surrounded by so much creativity! I completed a handful of commissions during this time period but longed for enough time to produce my own work. During the pandemic, after the kids had grown, I was able to refuel my passion and find more time for painting, even while working full-time in an unrelated career. I haven’t looked back.
I hope you’ll join me on my journey and enjoy seeing things through my creative lens. Thank you for visiting!
